UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on October 8, 2011, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The event will also coincide with a two day UFC Fan Expo to be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
UFC 136 will feature two preliminary fights live on Spike TV.
Josh Grispi was expected to face Matt Grice at the event, but Grispi was forced from the bout and replaced by Nam Phan. Grice himself was also forced from the card with an injury and replaced by Leonard Garcia.
Nick Catone was expected to face Aaron Simpson at the event but was forced off the card with an injury and replaced by Eric Schafer.
UFC 137: St-Pierre vs. Condit is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on October 29, 2011 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This event was originally expected to take place on October 15, 2011 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.[2] However, due to multiple scheduling issues with broadcast rights, the organization scrapped those plans.[3]
A UFC Primetime series is expected to promote the main event.[4]
UFC 137 will feature two preliminary fights live on Spike TV.
Dennis Siver was expected to face Sam Stout at this event, but Stout pulled out of the bout on August 29th and was replaced by Donald Cerrone.
Nick Diaz, who was originally scheduled to headline the card opposite Georges St-Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship, was pulled from the fight on September 7th due to failed media appearances. Carlos Condit was promoted from his fight with B.J. Penn to replace Diaz and face St-Pierre.
On September 8th, B.J. Penn announced via Twitter that Dana White offered him a fight he “cannot refuse” and will still be fighting at UFC 137. Later that day, both Penn and White announced that the fight would be against Nick Diaz.
UFC 138: Leben vs. Muñoz is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on November 5, 2011 at LG Arena in Birmingham, England. The event will air on the same day, via tape delay, on Spike TV in the U.S. and Canada. The event will be the second that the UFC has hosted in Birmingham, the first being UFC 89 back in 2008 that also featured Chris Leben in the main event.
After several tenatively scheduled 2011 events [3] at various locations around the United Kingdom did not materialize, including Glasgow, Liverpool, London as well as a planned return to Ireland, it was expected that the organization would not hold an event in the area during 2011.
The main event will be the first non-title five round fight in the history of the UFC.
Pascal Krauss was expected to face John Hathaway at this event. However, on August 30 Krauss pulled out of the bout citing a shoulder injury, and was replaced by Matt Brown.
Mark Scanlon was expected to face James Head at this event. However, Scanlon was pulled from the bout and replaced by promotional newcomer John Maguire
UFC 139: Shogun vs. Henderson is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on November 19, 2011 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, USA. The event will be the first that the UFC has hosted in San Jose, the longtime home and base arena for Strikeforce.
Josh Koscheck was expected to return on this card at middleweight, but is now expected to replace an injured Diego Sanchez to fight Matt Hughes at UFC 135.
UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez was originally expected to have his first title defense against Junior dos Santos at this event. However, on September 2, 2011, the UFC announced that fight would be moved to the inaugural UFC on Fox event.
Vitor Belfort was briefly linked to a matchup with Cung Le at this event. However, Belfort was removed from the bout and replaced by Wanderlei Silva.
Dana White announced that the winner of the main event between Rua and Henderson will likely be in line for a Light Heavyweight title shot after Rashad Evans.
